Stressful final week

Hey Blog

Here we are in the final stretch of the project and I have finally finished the major tasks of my portfolio. Overall I can say that this process has been a lot more rewarding than my last year's project. I think that by working alone I was able to achieve more and manage my time a lot better. less reliance in these circumstances proved to be beneficial for me after all. I have successfully completed my digipak and music and website all before the deadline with literally no help. Although it was a difficult process at times it has proven to be very satisfactory in the end. This week I traveled to New York City so I had to crunch in order to be sure that everything was done and it finally almost is. Tomorrow my CCR will be finished and post my final posting about that whole process and then my next post will have all the links to my final products.

Until next time,

Kyleigh.

My Digipak is Ready!

Hey blog

I have completed my digipak and finalized the editing. I made some changes from my original design that I showed in my previous blog posts. I changed my initial plan to be more reflective of my genre which is a mix of pop and R&B. I liked how the cover of Kehlani's album had the clouds in the background so I found some stock photos on google that I manipulated the colors of and added an overlay of my image on top of it. I kept my color palette consistent throughout my website and used it on my cover and back cover. The idea behind the colors is to convey a feeling of softness and emotion. All of the songs that "$K" has produced so far have been of a story telling/ ballad nature so I used colors that I thought reflected those feelings.

Overall I am extremely proud of how these turned out. Like extremely.
I used a mixture of Canva, PicCollage, and PicSee to create these.

Music Video Filming

Hey Blog

So as you know, I ran in to a bit of a hiccup when it came to filming my music video. I had initially planned to film with my friend Matthew with the intention of creating a very professional and almost industry grade music video with an entire concept planned out. That dream slowly died as filming was continually out off until eventually Matthew let me down #sad. But nevertheless, I persevered and made due with what I could. Instead I called up one of my close friends and asked her for a favor. She agreed to meet with my tonight after school to film. We planned on going to a park at sunset to film. I had basically an hour slot to film because I had a game that ended around 5:30, but was 38 minutes away from home and then I had to tech a show at 7:00pm. So as you can see we were crunched for time. However we made it work and filmed everything within 25 minutes and I made it to my show on time. The best part of the whole experience was the reality setting in that this is probably what the entertainment industry is like: short deadlines, backed up schedules, and no rest periods between events.

Overall, the final product that I was able to produce on such a short notice was pretty good. To make up for the lack of content in the video I used to iMovie to create some cool visual aspects in the video such as overlays and color changes. From the start I knew that the video was going to be very minimal and I wanted it to highlight $K. I think I was successful in sticking with my intended original plan and was able to come up with a product that I am proud of all before the deadline, despite the challenges I faced. I'll be posting a link to my video below as well as posting one in my my final posting with all of my final product links.

Worst News Ever

Hey Blog

So, today I text Matthew making sure that he is available this week. I text him asking what day he will be able to help me and he asked me if we could shoot Thursday!!!! This made my heart sink! He has proven to be extremely unreliable and at that point I couldn't help but give up on him. At this point I have taken matters into my own hands and chosen to just film on my phone and try to make a video that will be good enough. I have less than a week now to complete the video so as I'm sure you can assume....IM FREAKING OUT

I tried to be professional and polite as much as I could but honestly I am very upset. I had planned with him since the beginning of this process to film with him and now he's somehow too busy. Even though he's been putting it off forever..this is now the third time and I've had enough.

This is exactly how the conversation went. Now I got my friend Kayla to help me film and were just going to use my iPhone camera to film. We're still going to film at a local park this week. The biggest issue at this point is the time constraint and the last minute nature of this aspect of my project. On top of all of this I still have to complete my creative critical reflection. WHAT NEXT?! JEEZ LOUISE!!
This blog doesn't even express how upset and concerned I am.

Video Shoot

Hey Blog!

So as you know I intended on filming my video today and being able to edit it and have everything finished by the middle of this, the final week of production. Unfortunately, however, a similar occurrence has happened where I have relied on other people's availability to be able to help me with my project and it has hindered me in the long run. My friend Matthew was supposed to film for me over 2 weeks ago, the same time that we did the gallery photoshoot and that day he was too busy. So we planned to reshoot today. Of course there's yet another set back in my production process that ultimately has only presented further problems for myself. At this point I'm extremely worried about being able to film and edit the video this week and still have time to finish my CCR all before the weekend. This weekend I'm going out of town to visit a college so it is essential that I have everything completed before I leave.

The plan from this point on is to film on a weekday this week and get everything shot in about 2 hours at a local park that is easily accessible. Matthew tends to be a very reliable guy and he is working on his own project as well so I don't fault him, it is just a bit unnerving knowing that about 40% of my project remains incomplete. Hopefully I'll be set at ease when things come together later this week. I had a production schedule but I suppose in any industry hiccups are to be expected

EVERYTHING IS CHANGING AND IM FREAKING OUT!

until next time,

Little details

Hey Blog!

AS you know this week I've been working on my website and digipak and have been changing the details as time goes on. What I intended with this project from the beginning of production was to make sure that I covered every base when it came to the details of my designs. I was playing around on canva with the photos from the photoshoot I did a couple weeks ago and started just creating some print material for fun that I actually ended up falling in love with and want to use. I was taking inspiration for this from other print material that I had seen before in magazines and catalogs. Basically what it is is an artist review kind of article. It doesn't serve any real purpose other than just to legitimize $K and make her seem more appealing and sought after. I tried mimicking other reviews I had seen before and using fonts that are typical of companies like Rolling Stones and Billboard. In the end I think that I came up with is actually really cool and was super easy to do and I plan on just including them in the "About" page of my website or maybe even as a post card back that could be passed out at music festivals or something like that.  I'll be sure to update this blog if anything else changes with this.
